The Sensory Learning Program consists of two, daily, 30 minute sessions for 12 consecutive days. Each session simultaneously engages the vestibular, visual, and auditory systems. During each session the participant lies on a moving table, which provides them with gentle patterns of circular movement. This engages the vestibular system while generally soothing the participant. The participants eyes are directed toward an instrument projecting a colored light. The auditory stimulation is delivered via headphones through out the entire session.
There is an 18 day home program that is completed following the 12 days of treatment at First Step Achievements. The 18 day home program consists of 2 daily sessions of photo stimulation alone.
Prior to beginning the Sensory Learning Program each participant must partake in an Assessment and an Experiential Session. At this time the participants visual and auditory perception will be assessed to determine program settings and monitor changes.
The Initial Assessment and Experiential Session are provided without charge at First Step Achievements. |
