Therasuit was created and patented by Richard and Izabela Koscielny in 2002. TheraSuit worn over a prolonged time will correct proprioception and accelerate the progress. Thanks to the TheraSuit and physical movement (therapy) the skills practiced will become more fluent and require less and less effort. Therefore, TheraSuit facilitates the development of new gross and fine motor skills like sitting, standing, walking. The Therasuit is a breathable, soft, dynamic orthotic made up of a hat, vest, shorts, kneepads, and shoes. The suit is linked with elastic-type bands specifically placed over the body to bring muscles into correct alignment. The bands also provide vestibulo-proprioceptive and tactile input to influence tone, balance, and position of the body in space. The bands can add up to 10 - 80 pounds of loading. The Therasuit, when used in treatment, is placed on the body for ~1-2 hours (depending on the childs tolerance and endurance).
